Mike Magee, AIA, CDT, NCARB, LEED AP
Principal
Mike’s career in Architecture spans over 30 years, two states, and a wide variety of project types. It began with a move to Portland, OR after receiving his BA in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley in 1990, which led to 8 years of large firm experience on retail and institutional projects. This was followed by a move back to California for 7 years of residential and winery projects as well as a Green Building Professional Certificate from Sonoma State University in 2004. In 2006 Mike and his family moved to Eugene, which led to a Masters degree in Architecture at the University of Oregon and subsequent employment with BDA beginning in 2008, where he has been a Partner and Principal since 2014.
Legos deserve much credit for Mike’s choice of careers. An intense interest in construction and how materials fit and work together led to summer jobs in construction and ultimately to architecture, where Mike especially enjoys solving the detailing and construction of all types of buildings, and currently specializes in building envelope design, detailing and performance. Mike has extensive experience on a wide range of affordable housing projects, both new construction and rehabilitations, and also manages much of the firms’ commercial work.
Mike continues his association with the UO School of Architecture as a frequent student advisor and guest reviewer. He is licensed in both Oregon and California, holds a Construction Documents Technologist certificate (CDT) from the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), is NCARB certified, and LEED accredited.
