BDA is, and always has been, small by design. Rather than growing the size of the firm in an effort to widen the diversity of project types, we have deliberately chosen to focus on affordable housing with a strong group of dedicated individuals. The majority of staff are licensed Architects. Our focus allows every member of the firm to have a depth of experience in affordable housing, and our size allows us to retain that knowledgeable staff through varying economic cycles.

Our vision is to ensure staff members have the knowledge and experience to contribute to all phases of every project. Because everyone is engaged in the same work, staff are able to move fluidly between projects as schedules and deadlines demand. This also allows Mike Magee and Amanda Donofrio, Principals of BDA, to always stay intimately involved in projects so that the partner clients meet when choosing to work with BDA, are available and active in projects from kick off through completion.

Working at BDA

BDA supports our employees professionally and personally.  We seek to create a work life balance that allows for meaningful professional work and also having time to spend with family, friends or just in quiet contemplation.  At BDA, we expect everyone to receive respect and kindness when they bring their whole selves to work as we are an equitable and inclusive office.

BDA employees receive many benefits while working here to keep them healthy on many levels:

Bodily Heath: medical, vision, dental

Financial Health: competitive salaries, SIMPLE IRA and financial planning

Personal Health: 15-20 days PTO, Family leave, bereavement leave and more.

Charitable Heath: Volunteer Time Off (VTO) and BDA matching funds to employee causes.

Professional Health: trainings, conferences, and exam and licensure support

Our small and mighty team provides a balance of autonomy and teamwork that allows our people and projects to flourish.   We are looking for people who relate to others and care for who will live in and visit the buildings we create with our clients.   BDA employees can explore ideas with clients, lead projects and take responsibility for completing tasks.   They also come together and dream of new ways of designing for social challenges or just providing each other a helping hand when needed.  We’re a team of independent and capable people who care about others.   We’re BDA Architecture and Planning, P.C.

Although BDA may not always be hiring, we are always looking to connect with professionals who care deeply about affordable housing and want to use the architecture profession as a way of giving back to others through community service driven design. If you like what you see and hear about us, then please submit your resume and cover letter as one .pdf document and we’ll be sure to keep it on file for a year in case we’re hiring over the next 12 months.
