Carolina Trabuco, Associate AIA, M.D.

Job Captain

Originally from Brazil, Carolina moved to Eugene in 2011 to follow her dream to become an Architect. She finished her Master of Architecture at the University of Oregon in 2014 and decided to start her second career in Eugene. Before moving to Oregon, Carolina lived in Rochester Minnesota for 6 years where she worked as a Research Fellow at the “Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center” at the Mayo Clinic. While there, she developed a great interest in the aging population and how the built environment affects people’s health.

Prior to working at BDA Architecture & Planning, Carolina worked on single-family housing, tenant improvements, space planning, and small public rehabilitation projects in Eugene. Since joining BDA in 2016, Carolina has been involved in different design stages and construction of different projects ranging from new construction of multifamily housing to small tenant improvements and ADA remodels.

Carolina has a great appreciation for serving her community. When living in Brazil she volunteered to provide medical services and implemented preventive and educational medical programs offered to the impoverished population. In architecture school, Carolina was part of a design-build student run organization that offered design and construction services to the local community at no cost. While working at BDA she’s been involved in committees at the local American Institute of Architects, helping organize events and a design competition.

When not at work Carolina enjoys exploring Oregon with her husband. She has a great appreciation for the outdoors, and she enjoys biking, hiking, and kayaking. She also loves traveling and learning about the history and culture of new places. She believes that learning about other cultures benefits not only her personal life but also her professional growth.

Carolina’s interests and previous experiences provide her with a passion on how buildings affect people and the natural environment. She believes that good quality design is a balance of aesthetics, functionality, and space and energy efficiency. She is grateful to be part of the BDA team and for the opportunity to continue to do work that positively impacts her community.
