Bergsund DeLaney Architecture and Planning is committed to providing quality design services for all types of housing. Our firm undertakes projects that are to be occupied by many different user groups including seniors, low-income families, empty nesters, singles, physically and mentally challenged as well as median-to-affluent couples and / or families. The housing types range from additions and renovations to single family custom homes to higher-density multi-unit designs.
Though housing is our first love, our work includes small-scale retail, commercial and civic projects, usually associated with larger-scale housing developments. Urban in-fill and mixed-use developments are of interest as we support our Urban Growth boundaries.
Bergsund DeLaney responds to each site with sensitivity to the existing context, both natural and built, and harbors an awareness of regional characteristics that inform the development of style and use of materials, which are place and site specific. Our firm understands the importance of history in the development of new construction and how new development should respond to and respect this history. This is achieved through a careful analysis of the underlying characteristics and patterns of the context and a response that incorporates modern technology used in traditional building applications.
Energy efficiency and green building strategies are an integral component of our design process. While many affordable housing budgets cannot support all of the strategies we may like to employ, working with our clients, we have successfully integrated value added components and systems that result in more energy efficient and healthier living environments for their residents.
